I did a lot! Reading, doing chores, playing around.
Actually, a part of being a haibane is doing your share of work
You can either help take care of the other Haibane, or you can find work in town
and I kind of did both

In a way, yeah. It's part of Haibane custom.
The older Haibane usually go to work in town with the Humans. I think it's supposed to be a sign of goodwill to them.
After all, they gave us the place we live in.

They might have. I don't know.
I guess in this case the Haibane came to be, and then the people helped them find a way to live in the town.
